Dr. Joe Savon Honored as ASAM Fellow

New Life Medical Addiction Services is pleased to announce that Dr. Joe Savon has been made a Fellow at The ASAM. The ASAM is the American Society of Addiction MedicineASAM Fellow Dr. Joseph Savon and it’s mission is be the physician-led professional community for those who prevent and treat those who suffer from the disease of addiction.

The ASAM, which was founded in 1954, is a professional medical society representing over 6,000 physicians, clinicians and professionals in the field of addiction medicine. Dr. Savon’s association with The ASAM is important to New Life because the core of its mission is to provide science-based and medically proven treatments for those who suffer from addiction.

Achieving this honor is another milestone in Dr. Savon’s journey to become the preeminent addiction medicine physician in New Jersey. Since co-founding New Life in 2018, Dr. Savon has worked to create the region’s best detox and rehab center focusing on treating those who suffer from dependence on opioids and alcohol.

Throughout his time in medical school and in his career as a practicing physician, Dr. Joe has had an intense focus on leveraging the latest developments in medical research so that he can provide the maximum benefit to his patients. In the last few years, the science of treating addiction has seen significant gains and Dr. Joe has leveraged these to provide a new paradigm of care at New Life. As an ASAM Fellow, Dr. Joe is helping to improve the quality of addiction treatment and is supporting the kind of research that is changing the lives of those who struggle with substance abuse in ways that weren’t even imagined just a few years ago.

Dr. Joe’s focus on the science of addiction management is equaled only by his compassion for his patients. In this time of the COVID-19, those who suffer from addiction to drugs and alcohol are having an especially rough time. Many of them are unemployed and suffering from the social isolation that is such a big element of this pandemic.  Others, unfortunately, have returned to using and are finding it difficult to find and/or pay for their drugs of choice.

In order to help patients during this time, New Life has implemented a full suite of telemedicine services, such as Zoom consultations, that allow patients to interact with doctors and staff 24/7. There is always someone available to talk and, as we like to say, “Call today, start today”. That’s the New Life difference.
